This week is all about blogs for Belle Copy. We love writing blogs as it‘s an opportunity to really get our teeth into someone else’s business. We start by exploring their sector, understanding their complexities, and recognising their expertise. And once all the research is under our belt, we put pen to paper and show the rest of the world why our clients are really worth listening to.
One of the clients we’re blogging for is a brand new education start-up born out of the pandemic. For some, finding a new job has been a necessity but for others (like our client), it’s been the catalyst to launching something they’ve always wanted to.
Their website will be the window to their services and in order to attract new visitors in the weeks and months ahead, it needs to have regular, original, high-quality content. Which is why blogging is so important for their online marketing strategy.
Whether you’re a small business or a big multinational, blogs can play an integral role in your business too by…
Improving your SEO
The minefield that is ‘Search Engine Optimisation’. Google captures around 95% of the mobile search engine market so you can’t underestimate the importance of writing to your ‘Google’ advantage. Blogs offer the perfect opportunity. They enable you to produce fresh, new content for Googlebots to scan and add to their searchable index. And by strategically using keywords relating to your blog subject in the headline and body of your text, you’ll also increase the likelihood of capturing your key target audience. Just don’t ‘over-do’ the keywords or your article will lose both focus and credibility.
Signposting you as THE ‘go-to’ people
Blogs give you the opportunity to showcase your expertise and experience in your chosen field in A LOT more detail than a social media post ever could. Talk about news and trends in your sector. Provide advice and guidance on potential issues or dilemmas. And demonstrate your passion for your specialism. This will help readers believe in your abilities and feel comfortable reaching out.
Engaging with potential customers
On your blog, you’ll have the opportunity for people to ‘like’, ‘comment’ or ‘share’ your articles. Encourage them by asking questions. Voice your opinions articulately and offer the counter argument. Use your blog to open the door to a wider discussion/debate. And be sure to respond astutely to all comments to encourage further engagement and build a rapport.
Increasing visits to other pages
When writing your blog, be sure to include relevant links to other pages on your website. This will encourage readers to stay on your site longer and discover more about what services you have to offer. It will also benefit that all-important SEO again.
Providing social media content
Unless you have a designated social media person, consistently coming up with ideas and posts for your social media channels can be ridiculously time-consuming. And that’s time you’d far rather spend doing your ACTUAL job. Your blog will provide you with a plethora of high quality content which you can use across your different platforms. But you don’t need to use it all in one go. Each salient point can be made into a separate post. And of course, use every one of those posts to drive people to your blog or another page on your website, thus increasing traffic. Double whammy!
Have we managed to convince you of the value of blogging yet? If you’re still wavering, consider that 77% of internet users read blogs. So, if you're not already on the bandwagon, then get jumping!
